Do you have to have PC-Travel for Windows to use GPS2PDA? Yes. GPS2PDA only collects the travel time data. You need PC-Travel to process, analyze, and generate the reports.
What PDAs are supported? Almost all PDAs that run the Palm OS (vers 3.x, 4.x and the newer 5.x) and PDAs that run the Pocket-PC OS. We will maintain a complete list of PDAs that we know work (and those we know don’t work) and
what is needed to get them to work with various GPS receivers and keep that information posted on this web site. (click here)
What PDAs don’t work? We don’t support some of the hybrid phone/PDA devices out there although some we do (if it’s primarily a PDA
with a phone option, then we probably support it). If you’re not sure, email us and we’ll check it out for you.
What GPS receivers are supported? There are hundreds of GPS receivers available on the marketplace. Some will work with our products and some
won’t. In general, a GPS receiver needs the following features:
- Serial Interface using standard protocols (NMEA text sentences).
- Data output once per second.
- External antenna to mount on top of car (not absolutely needed, but very helpful).
There is a section on this site that has a list of GPS receivers that we know work (click here).
Will Jamar sell PDAs and GPS receivers? We will have two or three systems that include everything you need if you don’t have anything right now.
Theses kits will include a PDA, a GPS receiver, all of the necessary cables, plus the software.
