These receivers are combine the antenna and receiver into one unit that typically sticks to the roof of your car with a magnetic mount. A cable leads down from the receiver, through the window, and
then breaks into two cables. One goes to a power source, either a cigarette lighter adapter or a mouse port connector, the other cable goes to the serial port of your laptop or PDA. These are the lowest cost GPS
receivers, but they do a very good job collecting travel time data.
