Modular GPS Receivers

These receivers are combine the antenna and receiver into one unit that typically sticks to the roof of your car with a magnetic mount. A cable leads down from the receiver, through the window, and then breaks into two cables. One goes to a power source, either a cigarette lighter adapter or a mouse port connector, the other cable goes to the serial port of your laptop or PDA. These are the lowest cost GPS receivers, but they do a very good job collecting travel time data.

Haicom 204E(75)

Haicom 204E: This is currently our favorite GPS receiver for GPS2LT, and also for most PDAs used with GPS2PDA. (more).

Holux 210: This was our favorite and still is a good option for GPS2LT or GPS2PDA (more).

Garmin 35PC: Although a little antiquated by modern standards, this is still a very good receiver for either GPS2LT or GPS2PDA (more).
